Looking back at my first PGL, this week, I am happy. A new class with new bonds forming and a teacher that is beginning to see the personalities of 25 amazing children that i have the pleasure of exploring the world with for the next year or two ( mixed age class). I have witnessed children push themselves to their limits, come out of their comfort zones, gather a level of independence and develop as a team.
There have been lows, as is always the case when working with children: children falling out with one another, a severe case of the grumps from being overtired and random items being lost ( knickers, tuck shop toys, abundance of hair bands). However, there have been so, so many highs I feel I have not remembered half of them: children learning new skills (knot making, map skills, teamwork), children overcoming fears ( several pushing themselves through the barrier of comfortable ness when climbing), kindness seen: cheering when they succeed or cheering each other up when couldn't face their fears.
Our class is by no means the finished article of togetherness but we are now well on our way.
